GREENSEAL 100
Crystallization Admixture Waterproofing
Greenseal 100 is a waterproofing cemetitious, which integral to parts of concrete to form a crystallization process. Greenseal 100’s chemical agents will react with water, a non-soluble crystalline was then generated throughout the capillary voids in the concrete. This crystalline is highly resistant to water, and it performs well even under extreme conditions such as pressures or aggressive chemicals. Greenseal 100 is also recommended for use in minor repair to concrete structure. Cracks or voids up to a width of 1.0 millimeter can be seal up anytime by using Greenseal 100, to form a crystallization process.

APPLICATION
Greenseal 100 can be used for most of the concrete structure where the structure will expose to water contact later. These included slabs, underground walls, ground beams and floors, water storage structures, marine and coastal structures, or any fresh concrete.
Besides that, it can be used as an additive agent to cement grout in new concrete to protect concrete structures from water attacks. The protection against water can be permanent once the crystallization processes fully growth. The same principle applies for plugging to leakage in concrete structure. Greenseal 100 when mixed up with water, it turns to slurry. It is then easy to apply onto concrete surfaces as a dry powder additive.

Dosage of Greenseal 100 in every batch of concrete shall go by percentage of volume in m3. A guidelines is recommended below for the percentage dosage rates of Greenseal 100 admixture to the cementitious Ordinary Portland Cement (OPC) and Reactive Pozzolans (e.g.: reactive fly ash) content of the concrete.
Example:

Calculation for Dosge rate of Greenseal 100:
(285 kg OPC (including Reactive Pozzolans) @ 0.7%=2 kg dose rate)
For corrosive coastal structure, chemical storage marine and constant high water pressure applications, we recommend to consult Greenseal Products Representatives for suitable rates.
I) BATCHING PROCEDURE
- Greenseal 100 can be added into concrete either in concrete batch plant or concrete mixing trucks. The dosage of Greenseal 100 shall follow consultant’s specification or refer to Greenseal Products representatives.
- q Greenseal 100 admixture to be weigh accordingly. In concrete batch plant, it is recommend that the Greenseal 100 shall be added lastly into concrete after discharge of cement, sands and aggregates, a through mix between 5 to 10 minutes is encouraged.
- The same method applied to concrete mixing truck. Greenseal 100 can be added into concrete mixing truck on site. Greenseal 100 to be add into concrete mixing truck and allow for 5 to 10 minutes for a through mix. It is recommend that the amount of water shall be determined during the trial mix stage as Greenseal 100 admixture will typically reduce the amount of water required by 5 to 20 liters per cubic meter.
- The amount of water required in the concrete mix design can be adjusted accordingly to trial mix result, under the approval of the consultants.
- Greenseal 100 admixtures also act as a plasticiser. Therefore, no other commercial plasticiser is recommend to a concrete mix design using Greenseal 100.
- Water is an important agent to form crystallization process. Initially, water will access to concrete through porous portion of concrete surface. Greenseal 100 Admixture will then react with water and crystallization process grows. This process should grow continuously to throughout the depth of concrete. Therefore, curing is very important to concrete to avoid “dehydrate’ to it.
II) SETTING TIME
Concrete added with Greenseal 100 Admixture may retard the setting time of concrete, subject to different mix design. Therefore, a trial mix is encouraged to carry out to determine the setting time, and also the workability of concrete. The setting time can be determined during trial mix; while the workability of concrete can be determined by a slump test to concrete. The design mix and trial mix should approved by the consultants.
III) CONSTRUCTION JOINTS
The central line of all construction joints must be embedded with waterstop before pouring of concrete allowed. The contractors shall refer to the consultants for the dimensions of waterstop.
COMPACTING, TROWELLING AND FINISHING
I. COMPACTION
Compaction of concrete must be thorough. This can be determine by follow the conditions below:
- No air was entrapped in concrete void.
- Concrete has filled to intended level.
- No exposure to reinforcement bars.
- Concrete has meet with required properties.
Trowelling process should be carry out after the above conditions achieved. Trowel to a finish surface.
II. FINISHING
Finishing of the concrete can be done either by power trowelling or vigorous hand trowelling to the surface of concrete. By doing this, the bleed water will eventually flow back to concrete. Trowelling process will help to build a nice flat surface to concrete to the satisfactory of finishing level.
PROCESS OF CURING
- Curing to concrete is essential to enable the Greenseal 100 crystallization optimum growth at earliest possible time. If possible, it is recommended that curing process take place immediately once final set achieved.
- Concrete shall be protect and cure under the formwork, and remain in place for approximate seven (7) days before dismantling is allowed. Keep moist to all exposed surfaces.
ALTERNATE CURING
Curing can be done by using Greenseal 800 from Greenseal Products, which helps to accelerate the setting time; or through conventional gurney salts.
BACKFILLING
Normal backfilling is allowed after concrete was cured. However, in the event that backfilling was done less that seven (7) days time upon initial set, it is recommend that backfilling material must keep moist so to avoid evaporate of moist from the concrete.
APPLICATION OF COATING ON CONCRETE WITH GREENSEAL 100
The formation and growth of crystalline is the best choice to water resistance as it develop through the capillaries / void in the concrete. This effect will last permanently. Due to this reason, additional bonding to concrete is therefore required before application of coating onto concrete surfaces. Epoxy and painting can be applied on concrete using Greenseal 100 with the presence of primer.
STORAGE
Greenseal 100 must be stored in a dry enclosed area or containers with ambient room condition.
The shelf life is one (1) year, when stored under proper conditions.
REINFORCEMENT BARS
- General: Shall be in accordance with the pertinent British Standards.
- Concrete slabs: All reinforcement should be “rib deformed bar” and designed in accordance with British Standard
HEALTH & SAFETY
Eyes : Flush eyes with water immediately for at least 15 minutes and seek for medical advice.
Skin : Wash contacted skin with soap and water. Change to clean clothes and shoes, while the contaminated entire need to wash thoroughly before reuse. Seek for medical advice if feel uncomfortable.
